Sarah Palin in Love with Dead Man

Sarah Palin clearly has an unnatural obsession with a dead man - and no it is not McCain. Below is the source of her Reagan quote. I guess they didn't have many other records to play at her house. Talk about always talking about the past!

It's Palin-Reagan-Bush-McCain vs. the American Middle Class in a coffee-klatch-cum-death-match from hell!

Paul Krugman: Raising the white flag of surrender — to Medicare

Unbelievable. Sarah Palin finished her closing remarks by quoting Ronald Reagan:

It was Ronald Reagan who said that freedom is always just one generation away from extinction. We don’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream; we have to fight for it and protect it, and then hand it to them so that they shall do the same, or we’re going to find ourselves spending our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children about a time in America, back in the day, when men and women were free.

When did he say this? It was on a recording he made for Operation Coffeecup — a campaign organized by the American Medical Association to block the passage of Medicare. Doctors’ wives were supposed to organize coffee klatches for patients, where they would play the Reagan recording, which declared that Medicare would lead us to totalitarianism.

Left, on a jet plane

Leaving

I cashed-in my miles and hit the jet stream back to Japan. I figured it was best to clear out before the looming unnatural destruction of the republican convention. I can't know. Actually I am looking forward to seeing it filtered thru Japanese television as a dubbed over tiny blip.

Public Transportation - HERE HERE!

It is hard to resist repeating and reposting Robert Reich's clear call for a ground-up new public transportation system on Marketplace last week. Just how long do we think we can really keep this nation going without one?

Marriage Freedom Bells Ring on Tilos!

Tilos02

Great news today from Greece of the first same sex marriage on the beautiful island of Tilos. The NYT story hits the basics, but check out this Flickr site with lovely images of Tilos.

NOPE

BARACK-NOPE
I am so fed up with the Obama-is-the-next-Messiah crowd and those damn street posters in that ultra-tired Shepard-Fairey-propaganda-drag. HOPE? Yeah I hope they ask Shepard Fairey to stop making that crap. Now comes the DNC decision to give Obama even more of the Michigan vote than even the uncommitted votes. I mean, WTF is that? Isn't stealing elections away from voters something the Republicans do? Obama claims to be the agent of change - which infers progress - but clearly it's politics-as-usual with him and his devout believers. To me he remains just another man who wants to be in charge.

Supreme Sized Marriage News

Supremely_great_news

Thursday turned out to be a very exciting day, with the California Supreme Court striking down the barriers to marriage for same-sex couples! Of course, the real work begins as we must all work together to fight attempts to ruin the State Constitution. Now if only the right to marry included equal access to the federal immigration rights for same-sex couples.

I encourage everyone to donate generously to Equality California.
